Die Techniken

Braces and orthodontic techniques in Ratingen

the techniques

Whether visible or invisible, fixed or removable - we find the right state-of-the-art solution for everyone.
Our goal: the most comfortable and efficient way to radiant, flawless teeth!

aktive Platte

Active plate

A technique commonly known as a removable brace. It has a small spring element with a screw that can be used to adjust the appliance.
The wires influence the position of the teeth and expand the jaw.
The Active Plate is particularly suitable for smaller displacements and is mainly used for children.

Bionator

Functional jaworthopedic devices

These include Bionator, the Twinblock, the Activator, the Advance Double Plate and the Function Regulator. These braces all work holistically and without pressure from the metal elements. By wearing them, the muscles in the mouth are stimulated so that the misalignments of the jaws are regulated by their own strength.

Lückenhalter

Space maintainer

The space maintainer belongs to the family of loose braces. It is used when milk teeth are lost too early and keeps the space free for the following teeth.

Brackets

Fixed braces | Brackets

Fixed braces consist of small brackets, which are bonded directly to the teeth, and an archwire that connects the brackets and applies continuous pressure to the teeth. In this way, good treatment results can be achieved quickly and efficiently.

We offer the full range of this efficient correction method in our practice, including:

  • Metal brackets
  • self-ligating speed brackets
  • Sapphire brackets

Lingualtechnik

Lingual technique

Here, a fixed system is attached to the inside of the teeth - making it not only discreet, but almost invisible. Another advantage is the maximum wearing comfort without an annoying feeling in the mouth.

Our practice team has a special qualification for treatment with this technology!

Aligner

Aligner

Aligners are removable braces made of transparent plastic that are custom-made. They are a good and inconspicuous alternative to conventional braces.
The special advantage: the aligners can be removed at any time and are very easy to clean. Even brushing your teeth can be done as usual.

Unterkiefer-Protrusionsschiene

Mandibular advancement splint

Patients suffering from sleep-related respiratory disorders can be helped by a so-called mandibular advancement splint, which gently holds the lower jaw forward at night. This stabilizes the airways during sleep and improves breathing. This not only affects morning fitness and restfulness, but if left untreated can also result in secondary diseases such as arterial hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias.

Intraoralscanner

Intraoral scanner

For the fabrication of certain braces or also for patients who would like to bypass the classic dental impression, we can digitally record teeth, jaw bones and the bite within a few minutes using our intraoral scanner. Together with the data from our digital facebow, which records all of the patient's chewing movements, this creates your very own and perfectly fitting braces for efficient treatment.

Retention

Retention

After completion of the active treatment, the teeth are stabilized in the intended target position. This is done on the one hand with removable appliances, which are worn mainly at night during the first few months and are gradually reduced, and on the other hand with fixed retainers. These small wires behind the incisors keep your teeth in the correct position even after your treatment with us.

We offer in our practice: > Retainer
> Retention plates
> Retention trays

Gesichtsbogen

Prevention | Prophylaxis

Especially with fixed braces, good tooth protection is important for an excellent treatment result. The areas around the brackets are particularly at risk, as they are more difficult to reach during daily cleaning. If hygiene is inadequate, bacteria can damage the tooth structure there. In this context, we offer patients with fixed braces prior surface sealing with a fluoride-releasing sealant and clean the teeth around the brackets when changing the archwires.

A special focus is also placed on the function and protection of the temporomandibular joints. In addition to our computer-assisted procedures, we use manual structural analyses. This involves careful palpation and examination of the temporomandibular joints including adjacent structures. In this way, undetected complaints can be identified and taken into account during treatment.

Questions & Answers

Who are aligners suitable for?

Aligners are particularly suitable for patients who want removable and discreet teeth straightening.

Whether they are medically appropriate depends on the type of misalignment and the desired treatment goal. Some tooth movements can be achieved better or more reliably with other methods.

How long do aligners need to be worn each day?

Aligners only work if they are worn consistently.

Typically, they should be worn for about 22 hours per day. They are usually removed for eating, for drinking certain beverages and for dental care.

How do I clean aligners properly?

Aligners should be cleaned regularly so that they remain hygienic and as transparent as possible.

They are usually cleaned with water and suitable cleaning products. Products that are too aggressive or hot water can be problematic depending on the material. The practice will provide specific care instructions.

Can you eat and drink with aligners?

Aligners are normally removed for eating.

Water can usually be drunk while wearing aligners. For other beverages, it should be discussed individually what is possible so that the trays do not discolor and the teeth remain protected.

After meals, dental care is important before the trays are put back in.

How visible are aligners in everyday life?

Aligners are made of transparent plastic and are usually hardly visible in everyday life.

However, they are not completely invisible. Depending on tooth position, attachments and lighting conditions, they may be noticeable.
